Support for GPT-5 mini

Support for GPT-5 mini has been added to the Bugster configuration. Both OpenAI and elmah.io-hosted options for the new model are available. Be aware that GPT-5 is running slower than GPT-4 because it processes with a larger context.

In addition, the models have been grouped into current and deprecated categories to help you get on the latest model.

Related log entries, deployment questions, and more Bugster improvements

A new wave of features has been added to Bugster. Most of these changes are only available when enabling Extended Access, as explained in the Bugster documentation.

Related log entries

When asking questions about your data, any log messages part of the reply are now shown below the answer. Clicking each row will open the details of that log message on the search page.

Answer questions about deployments, logs, and organizations

Bugster can now answer questions about deployments, logs, and organizations. This means that you can ask questions like “How many errors are in the deployment with version 20251101.8?” and “How many uptime checks do I have on this log?”.

Better log message counting

A new set of tools able to count log messages has been added. This means that Bugster is way better at providing statistics since it can call counting tools rather than having to fetch log messages to make in-memory counting.

Utilities

We have also started providing Bugster with small utility tools. An example is something as simple as getting the current date. When running on top of an LLM and without these utilities, Bugster would think that the current date is the day the model was built.

Problem Details support

Support for RFC-compliant Problem Details has been added to elmah.io. When your API returns a ProblemDetails response, elmah.io now automatically detects it, parses the standard fields, and shows them in a structured format instead of raw JSON. Validation errors from ASP.NET Core are shown in a dedicated errors table, making it easy to see which fields failed and why. This makes debugging API-level issues significantly faster, especially when working with model validation or custom ProblemDetails implementations. No configuration changes are required, and existing logs will automatically benefit from the improved visualization.

Spike explanations added to the Log Overview chart

The Log Overview chart has long highlighted anomalies with a red background, making spikes easy to spot. With this update, you can now hover the anomaly icon displayed above each red area to see a detailed explanation of why that specific section is classified as an anomaly. This helps you understand the underlying error patterns and quickly assess what caused the spike:

Bugster now answer questions about log data

We have released several improvements to Bugster. The biggest change is that Bugster can now answer simple questions about your log data. When on the Log Search page, you can ask questions like “What are the 3 recent errors in my log?” and “When is the most frequent error?”. Asking log-specific questions requires Extended Access to be enabled, as explained in the Bugster help article.

You can still click the Analyze with Bugster button on a specific error to get Bugster’s help with fixing the error. As a new thing, both this mode as well as the Bugster chat available on docs.elmah.io now offer the possibility of asking follow-up questions.

We have multiple improvements planned already, but feel free to share your experiences and ideas using the chat widget in the lower right corner.

Assign user to all logs in an environment

Organization administrators can now assign log access to users based on an environment. This makes it easy to grant a user access to all logs within a specific environment (like Production, Staging, or Development) with a single action instead of setting permissions for each log individually:
