Toggle between log message and message template

When logging from a structured logging framework you log both a message and a message template. elmah.io automatically replaces any structured properties when shown on the UI. By clicking the new toggle available when hovering the title, you can switch between the log message and the original message template:

New

Security settings on organization

Your company may have requirements for using two-factor authentication or against using social logins. These requirements can now be configured on elmah.io as well using the new Security tab above the user’s list on the organization settings page:

Security settings

If you want to enable these settings and you currently have users in your organization that doesn’t meet the requirements, these users will be redirected to a special page on their next sign in. This page will inform them about the requirements set on the organization and how to proceed. If you enable the Disallow social login toggle and have users that signed up with a social provider, these users will need to sign up with a new user (using username/password) and get added to the organization on elmah.io.

Email usage report

There’s a new email usage report available on the Subscription tab on the organization settings page. When clicking the info icon next to Emails you get an overview of how you’ve spent your monthly email quota so far:

Email quota

We only started grouping the statistics by email a couple of days ago, why you may see a row titled “Unknown” this month. From next month, all emails will be correctly grouped by email addresses.

Improvement

Serilog.Sinks.ElmahIo 3.5.0

New

Combined Daily Digest

We just launched one of the most requested features on elmah.io: the Combined Daily Digest email. The existing Daily Digest email sends one email per log. When you have multiple logs, getting a lot of emails may or may not be the optimal solution for getting an overview of the log activity since yesterday. With the new Combined Daily Digest you can bundle multiple logs in one email.

The way this works is by specifying on each log if you want it as an individual or combined email. The Emails tab on your profile is extended with a new dropdown as shown here:

Email configuration

If configured like in the screenshot above, you would get a Daily Digest email of the Uptime.Checker log and a Combined Daily Digest email of the ErrorMail and EmailStatistics logs.

All of your existing Daily Digest subscriptions are currently set as Individual. To combine them into a single email, go to your profile and select Combined.

We would love to hear what you think.

New

Clear filters

There’s a new Clear filters button available on the search page for easy removal of added search filters:

Improvement

Switched to Cloudflare

We have switched DNS to use Cloudflare. Using Cloudflare offers some benefits over our previous DNS provider like DDoS protection and automatic-renewal of SSL certificates. The change doesn’t require anything from you and shouldn’t impact you in any way. Let us know if you experience problems.

Improvement

Redesigned Install tab

The Install tab on log settings has received a much-needed overhaul. The old design was from the time were elmah.io only supported ASP.NET, MVC, and Web API. Much happened since then with ASP.NET Core being introduced and great support for all major .NET logging frameworks.

The new design embeds install instructions for a set of popular web and logging frameworks with configuration code ready to copy and paste into your own projects:
