Improvement

Enable/disable spikes in messaging integrations

The following apps/integrations have been extended with a new Spikes toggle: HipChat, Slack, Teams, and Twilio. Spikes are sent through these integrations as default, but can be disabled using the new toggle:

New

Spike detection

We launched a new spike detection feature for all users on plans including Anomaly Detection (Enterprise and custom plans only). With spike detection, elmah.io automatically monitors your applications and store an error in your log when an error spike is identified. Unlike the impact increased email that we had for a couple of years, the new spike detection is superior in the following ways:

If you currently have both the New Error and Impact Increased emails enabled, we recommend you to turn off the Impact Increased email on your profile.

We hope that you will enjoy the new feature. As always, reach out for any questions.

Improvement

Elmah.Io 3.6.66

We released a new version (3.6.66) of the Elmah.Io, Elmah.Io.Mvc, Elmah.Io.WebApi, and Elmah.Io.AspNet packages. The new version includes the recent version of Elmah.Io.Client as well as enrichers for common ASP.NET related exception types.

Improvement

Elmah.Io.AspNetCore 3.9.106

We released a new version (3.9.106) of the Elmah.Io.AspNetCore package. The new version includes the recent version of Elmah.Io.Client as well as fixes an issue with getting values from posted form data.

Improvement

Elmah.Io.Client 3.8.86

We released a new version (3.8.86) of the Elmah.Io.Client package. The package automatically decorate all log messages containing an exception with type-specific properties like ParamName from ArgumentException, FileName from FileNotFoundException, and more.

All integrations work with this version. You can either upgrade Elmah.Io.Client manually or wait for the integration you use to depend on the new version.

Fix

Downtime on the API

We had some problems with the API during the last couple of hours causing some downtime. The issue is now solved. So sorry about the inconvenience. We will start looking into what went wrong there to avoid similar issues in the future.

Improvement

API upgraded to ASP.NET Core 3.1

We upgraded the API from ASP.NET Core 2.2 to 3.1. The upgrade should have been transparent for all clients but caused a JSON serialization problem when calling the API directly from HttpClient or similar. The issue has now been fixed. Integrations using the Elmah.Io.Client package shouldn’t have been affected by the upgrade.

Improvement

Max count on daily digest

We have updated both the individual and combined daily digest email with an upper count of messages rather than a count above each bar. Having a count on each bar would mess up the email template (especially on mobile) when logging more than 9 messages within the same hour.

New

New Zapier integration

We have re-built our integration with Zapier. Read through this blog post to get the details: New Zapier integration

Improvement

Blazor WebAssembly App status

After the official release of Blazor WebAssembly yesterday, we resumed our experiment with creating an integration to elmah.io. Blazor WebAssembly is still very limited in supporting third-party libraries. But for those of you who like to play, we wrote a new section about how to log to elmah.io from Blazor WebAssembly Apps. Please notice that the code is highly experimental.

Improvement

Elmah.Io.Umbraco 3.4.51

We released a new version (3.4.51) of the Elmah.Io.Umbraco package. The package fixes a bug that would cause a runtime error when installing the Elmah.Io.Umbraco package and not setting up the elmah.io notification method in healthcheck.config.
