Fix

Fixed custom query behavior on rules to match search

We have fixed two inconsistencies between queries inputted on the search page and when creating rules with custom queries.

What does this mean for you? Current custom queries in rules are left untouched, meaning they work with the old approach. You don’t need to do anything if you are happy with your current rules. Next time you update a rule, the rule will be moved to the new implementation. Make sure to check a custom query before saving a rule next time. The good news here is that you will now be able to copy the query and paste it into the search field and be sure your rule will match the same result as shown in the search result.

Improvement

New minor version updates of all client integrations/packages

There are new minor version updates of all client integrations (like Elmah.Io.AspNetCore and Serilog.Sinks.ElmahIo). The only change is a dependency update to the newest Elmah.Io.Client package. If you are using a package versioned 5.2.x, please either update to the newest version or install the newest Elmah.Io.Client in your project. Version 5.2.114 of Elmah.Io.Client had an internal issue as described here.

Added support for Spanish stack traces

app.elmah.io and the Stack Trace Formatter now support formatting and highlighting Spanish stack traces. Both features are built on top of netStack.js, our open-source JavaScript library for syntax highlighting .NET stack traces.

New

Elmah.Io.Client 5.2.118

We released a new version (5.2.118) of the Elmah.Io.Client package. The new version fixes a problem with the lifetime of the internal HttpClient when adding more integrations to the same project. Like, if you use both Elmah.Io.AspNetCore and Elmah.Io.Extensions.Logging.

If you are using either Elmah.Io.Client version 5.2.114 - 5.2.117 directly or one of the integrations with a dependency of these versions, make sure to install 5.2.118 to avoid errors during dispose of the HttpClient. You normally don’t need to install Elmah.Io.Client manually but you can run with the newest version even though no new minor versions of the integration packages have been released yet.

New

Problem Details Inspector Chrome extension

We published a (previously internal) Chrome extension named Problem Details Inspector. The extension better visualizes responses from endpoints returning Problem Details. While you can see these responses in the Network tab, you are looking at the raw JSON responses, and the requests and responses are mixed with other types. With Problem Details Inspector you will have an additional view showing only Problem Details responses and a nicely formatted view of the structured data.

If you are working with Problem Details, consider installing the extension from the Chrome Web Store here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/problem-details-inspector/oclepcipaoebfiellkgpimicaglafpfm

Flags on the Country column on log search

The Country column on the log search page has been extended to also show the countries flag. This will help quickly identify a country by looking at the flag rather than the ISO 3166-1 country code.

New

Preview page on Root Cause

There’s an updated preview section on the Root Cause view. The preview normally shows the response (if any) from a failed endpoint. If the response is HTML, we now generate a quick preview of how the page looked when requesting the page:
