New

Integration with Pipedream

There’s a new integration with Pipedream. For anyone not knowing Pipedream, it’s a service similar to Zapier and IFTTT that lets you integrate online systems without any coding needed. Currently, there’s a single integration point, being a trigger that initiates when a new error is logged in an elmah.io log.

Check out how to set it up in the documentation: Integrate with Pipedream.

How does the new detection work

There’s a new help article explaining how the New Detection feature works on elmah.io: https://docs.elmah.io/how-does-the-new-detection-work/. New Detection is used to set the isNew flag on log messages and is used in most of the emails and apps available on elmah.io. Understanding the details of this feature is not important for all users but having some documentation around the subject should be able to help you if you start seeing messages that you believe should be considered unique or the other way around.

New

Purchase top-ups for customers on manual invoices

Customers on manual invoices can now also purchase top-ups by inputting a credit card. This card will be used for any top-ups while the annual subscription will still be paid by whatever payment method agreed with each company.

Purchase top-ups for customers on manual invoice

A benefit of this solution is that moving from payment using a manual invoice to a credit card can now be done without having to cancel the current subscription and create a new one. To hear about how to move from manual invoice to credit card, make sure to reach out to support.

Prepare for up-coming DMARC changes

We are getting ready to roll out improved DMARC settings on the elmah.io domain. For anyone not an expert on DMARC and email delivery, DMARC stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance. It is an email authentication protocol designed to give email domain owners the ability to protect their domain from unauthorized use, commonly known as email spoofing. We are already using DMARC but want even more restrictive security settings going forward.

Everything should continue to work as previously. But if you want to ensure that emails sent from the elmah.io domain reach your inbox, consider making changes as described here: How to avoid emails getting classified as spam.

Fixed order of headers to resolve Client IP

We have pushed a fix to the order of HTTP headers we look at to resolve the Client IP field. With this fix, we now prioritize headers like X-Forwarded-For over Client-IP and similar, to better support reverse proxies like Cloudflare, Nginx, and Squid. Let us know if you believe errors include the wrong IP in the Client IP field going forward.

Microsoft Azure added to sub-processors

Microsoft Azure has been added to the list of sub-processors. Not having Azure on the list was a bug from our side. elmah.io has been hosted on Azure since the day it was born, why no new entities are processing personal data after this change.

Let us know if you require an updated version of the DPA which now includes Microsoft Azure as well.
